Tikal and Yaxha Ruins Tour
Would you like to visit Tikal and Yaxha Ruins on a two-day tour from Antigua? On this tour, you will explore and learn about the Maya cities Tikal and Yaxhá on this 2 day/1 night tour to Petén! We will pick you up the morning of Day 1 from your hotel/lodging in Antigua to take you to the Guatemala City airport to catch a short 1-hour flight to Flores. From the Flores Airport, you will hit the road to make the 45-minute journey to the National Park of Tikal where your local guide, Oliverio, will be waiting for you. Inside the park, you’ll be able to appreciate all different kinds of wildlife such as spider monkeys, howler monkeys, orange-breasted falcons, woodpeckers, parrots, and many other unique species. In addition to the impressive flora and fauna, you’ll visit various temples, as well as the Central Acropolis, The Window Palace, and the Lost World. For our adrenaline seekers, upon exploring the park, there will be an opportunity to zipline through the jungle which costs approximately $50 extra. After finishing your tour in Tikal National Park, you’ll head back to the small village of El Remate to enjoy lunch at Don David’s while overlooking Lago Petén Itzá. From there you will be transported back to your hotel in Flores where you can enjoy the rest of the late afternoon and evening exploring independently. We are happy to give you tips and recommendations for places to eat, drink or catch some live music before bed!
The next morning, your guide, Oliverio, will be waiting for you in the lobby of your hotel to take you on a guided tour of Yaxha Ruins. Yaxhá, the largest site in the area, is a Maya city on the shores of the lake with the same name. Between 1994 and 2008, a large number of important buildings were restored here. It has a great variety of temples, palaces, Mesoamerican ball-courts, and restored observatories. Perhaps one of the most impressive moments of this visit is the view of the entire site, the jungle, and the lake from the top of Temple 216.
Upon concluding your tour in Yaxha Ruins you can return to either El Remate or Flores to grab a bite to eat before heading to the airport to catch your late afternoon flight back to the airport to catch a flight to Guatemala City where our private shuttle will be waiting for you to take you back to La Antigua.
